Starting Somewhere

Funny words by George Eliot. That's my attempt at witty.

Is anyone else completely dumbfounded that Lady Gaga is still famous?
Do you really think Gisele Bündchen is that good looking?

Important questions, I know, and yet something else bothers me. It's the whole Israel-Arab World debacle. Will they, wont they, will there ever be peace? How is it that two nations that are so similar in some ways can be so antagonizing to each other? It got me thinking...specifically about an episode of Community (NBC), where Abed is best friends with Troy, but refuses Troy the option of sharing a dormitory. Troy is upset, understandably. Why can't they live together, they are BFF's, they get along so well, is that Abed doesn't really like Troy? Well throughout the episode, Troy comes to understand that like eating a gigantic cookie and feeling the nauseating results, too much of a good thing, is not a good thing.

BUT, how does this relate to Israel/Arab world? Well...its doesn't know that I think about it (it was a good episode though..). Israel and the Arab nations just don't get along, perhaps they had peaceful relations before the establishment of Israel in 1948 but after living side by side for too long (I'm assuming between 1000-3000yrs according to the Torah/Qur'an) a line was drawn, one kid got Israel, the other about 7 other nations. But the Arab world, just wasn't satisfied. Apparently they are suppressed and unhappy and it's all the Jews fault. Where have we heard this before?

Anyway, far be it for me to say the solution is....or this nation is wrong because.... but one thing is clear. After the recent Flotilla of ships approach an Israeli navy blockade of Gaza, things got sticky. The activists got a little to far into character and started to beat the crap out of the Israeli soldiers and the soldiers fired back in defense killing unfortunately, 9 people.

The international community let out a sea of outrage condemning Israel for their violence, which confused the hell out of me because i think that Israel is extremely unappreciated; the Arabic world unfortunately is led by corrupt and mob-like governments. We've all heard that these citizens are suppressed because they aren't allowed public entertainment, nor accessing education to females or free expression of thought.

It seems as though it is Israel who defends the right to equality and locates and exterminates some of the most evil terrorists on this earth. Perhaps because of the hard working military and navy, terrorism hasn't reached Westernized shores like America, France or England - yet. i think Netanyahu said it best, "the very countries defending these Palestinians today, would be targeted by them tomorrow".

And then again, I'd rather ponder as to why Lady Gaga is still on the music charts and the fact that Gisele Bündchen makes more money than brain surgeons.
